About "Content Areas"

Page history last edited by Tobi Krutt 12 years, 8 months ago

A "Content Area" is something new in Blackboard Learn. Think of a Content Area as a Folder that you can point to directly from a button on the Course Menu--you create the Content Area by clicking the "Add Menu Item" button on the Course Menu (the plus sign icon ), and then once it's created, you can use the various buttons at the top of the page (Build Content, Create Assessment, etc.) to create and add additional content, assignments, assessments, wikis, discussions, etc.

Instructors can ALSO add other folders and learning modules to Content Areas. The main difference between a Content Area and a Blank Page (both of which can be created from the "Add Menu Item" button on the course menu is that a Content Area enables the user to use the buttons at the top to add additional content and activities to the page, whereas a Blank Page does not have the buttons at the top.

Can adaptive release settings be applied to a content area link on the menu?
NO. Links from the course menu to content areas can either be made available or unavailable to students (by clicking the action links dropdown next to that menu item). Adaptive Release DATE settings can only be applied to items (such as learning modules, items, folders, etc.) that are added on the Content Area itself.
