I have entered a grade for a student but I still have a green exclamation mark next to it. What does that mean?
|
|
|
- It means that there is a second, as yet UNGRADED attempt, whcih that student has submitted.
- Remember: ALL of a student’s attempts must be graded or NO grade will display to that student in My Grades!

I have a column in Grade Center set so that students should see their "Letter Grade" as the Primary Display and their Score as "Secondary Display". However, students are seeing their SCORE instead of a letter grade, and in the Grade Center I am seeing the score as both Primary AND Secondary display. |
|
|
This is an issue that relates to Bb being unable to display/convert a letter grade correctly if the percentage is OVER 100%. (See the discussion here: http://discussions.blackboard.com/forums/t/52165.aspx
For example, if an instructor created a manual column in Grade Center, entered a Primary Display of "Letter" and a Secondary Display of "Score" but entered "0" as the possible points, and then entered grades up to 100 for each student, Bb would be unable to show a letter grade.
Try changing the possible points in your grade column and see if it works correctly.

Can I turn the "Alignment" column off in My Grades? |
Is there a a way to turn the Alignment column off in My Grades, if I am not using goals/alignments and if there are no goal sets loaded on the system? (in service pack 8)

It's a known issue in SP8 and SP9, and is supposed to be fixed in SP10--see the known issue articles on Behind the Blackboard at https://blackboard.secure.force.com/btbb_KnownIssueArticleView?Id=50170000000Wk2tAAC&RecordType=01270000000HiowAAC and https://blackboard.secure.force.com/btbb_KnownIssueArticleView?Id=50170000000Wlu0AAC&RecordType=01270000000HiowAAC” |

Some students missing in Grade Center. |
|
|
Go to Full Grade Center, Manage, Row Visibility, and see if the students are "hidden". We do not know the reason for this yet. Please let us know if this happens "before" you unhide them so we can investigate each case. |

Update 4/17/12: CONFIRMED FIXED ON SP8.

All columns on the right side of the Grade Center do not display, even when the vertical scroll bar is all the way to the right. |
An instructor may know that there are additional columns on the right side of the Grade Center that SHOULD display, but they're not showing up. |
n/a |
This appears to be a browser related issue, which has been seen to occur in FireFox but not IE. To view ALL columns in FireFox, the instructor can use the "Hide Menu" button to collapse the course menu at left, they can also try maximizing their browser window, or can use Ctrl+hyphen(-) to decrease your browser font size (Ctrl++ will increase it again). |

How do I know if a student has exceeded the Time Limit on a Test? |
If an instructor has set a time limit on a test but has NOT selected "forced completion" (meaning the test is automatically submitted once the time limit is reached) a student may exceed the alloted time for a test. In some cases, instructors may wish to deduct points for students who take extra time. |
|
To determine the duration of time that each student attempt took on a test:
1) Go to Needs Grading and then then click the action links dropdown arrow next to the item name to view all attempts for the given Test.
2) This will display another screen that displays the Test Duration for each attempt submitted.

Some students' tests are being automatically graded, while others are not.
|
On a given test, some students' submitted tests are being autograded while others are not, and the instructor is seeing those tests in “Needs Grading” in the Grade Center.
|
Bb Vista did not autograde tests if they had paragraph type questions. The timer did not force autograding, however.
|
If an Instructor is seeing a "Needs Grading" indicator in the Grade Center, it means that there's something about the tests that prevented them from being automatically graded. Generally, there are two reasons for this:
- There is a question type that cannot be automatically graded. There are three question types that will prompt manual grading:
- Essay
- Short answer
- File Response
- The instructor set a time limit on the test and the student went over the time limit, requiring that the test be manually graded so the instructor can decide whether to deduct points for submitting the test over the time limit.
TO FORCE GRADING: If there are any tests that remain in the status of "Needs Grading" after the test due date has passed, the Instructor can also go to that test attempt and click "Save and Exit". This will force the grading to take place.
