Assignments

Page history last edited by Tobi Krutt 11 years, 8 months ago

The Assignments tool is not a “stand-alone tool” as it was in Blackboard Vista. Assignments are created “on the fly” from within any Content Area, Folder, or Learning Module where the instructor wants the students to go in order to access that assignment.  There is no longer an Assignment Dropbox; rather, assignment attempts are graded from the Grade Center.

It’s important for instructors to note that if the folder, content area, or learning module where an Assignment resides is deleted, the Assignment is also deleted.

I allowed a student an additional attempt on an assignment but the wrong grade is displaying in Grade Center!     You need to go to the Grade Center and to that grade column and click the dropdown for that column heading, then select Edit Column information. Look for the setting that states WHICH ATTEMPT'S GRADE is displayed. There are five options:  First, last, highest, lowest, or average. The default is "Last Attempt" but most instructors prefer either Highest or Average. T. Krutt 8/24/12
I have a student who has submitted an assignment or a test and it seems to be stuck "In Progress" so I'm unable to grade it.      Here is a workaround that seems to work:
  1. Navigate to the Grade Center and to the column  of the assignment or test in question, in the row for the student where the submission is stuck "In Progress".
  2. In the cell with the "In Progress" icon, click on the cell's contextual menu and select "View Grade Details" from the drop down menu.
  3. On the Grades Detail page, select the Edit tab located on the lower half of the page.
  4. On the right side of the page, under Actions, select the Edit Grade button.
  5. Under Current Value, enter a numeric grade in the text box (this grade can be corrected later).
  6. After entering a grade you will now find the attempt is no longer marked "In Progress".
  7. You will now be able to go back and view the attempt and re-grade the attempt without encountering an error--you'll see the comments that the student had entered as well as attachments (I tried it to be sure).

When I try to save a file that has been uploaded, the file extension type is changed.
